It may be called Emily in Paris, but it is Emily’s French boss Sylvie who is grabbing viewers’ attention in series two of the Netflix hit.

While American Emily’s look is an explosion of colours, Sylvie (played by 58-year-old Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) showcases understated French chic.

And it’s easy to achieve with tailored blazers in neutral colours and well-cut straight-leg or high-waisted jeans, worn with a shirt or T-shirt. A classic trench coat is always a must, and Breton stripes are acceptable –just forget the beret.
