Kicking off on Monday, National Apprenticeship Week will see events across the country, sponsored by the likes of Amazon, Severn Trent, Pfizer and IBM, highlighting the benefits of this route into work.

There are 1,500 different job roles across 170 industries ranging from nuclear to fashion, and from banking to defence. A great place to start is apprenticeships.gov.uk (08000 150 400). You can also check out findajob.dwp.gov.uk, where we found 15,987 apprenticeships. The largest sectors are business, administration and law, with health, public services and care close behind.
And Not Going to Uni (notgoingtouni.co.uk) is listing 3,748 apprenticeships including IT, admin, accounting, childcare and sales.
