Stew will soak it up
FREDDIE STEWARD has never played a Six Nations game – but has experienced the cauldron of rugby’s oldest tournament.
The England full-back had a taste of the kind of electric atmosphere expected at Saturday’s Calcutta Cup clash with Scotland at Murrayfield as a teenage spectator in Cardiff in 2017 – when Elliot Daly’s 76th-minute score snatched a 21-16 win.
Now the 21-year-old will have the chance to experience it on the pitch.
He said: “It is a memory that sticks out. I wasn’t old enough to drink but I remember being drenched in beer from everyone else throwing their pints around.
“I was 16 and my dad managed to get tickets. It was his on bucket list to go and experience that atmosphere. Now having the opportunity to step on the field and do it is crazy.”
