Good with the lingo now
SAUL NIGUEZ felt dizzy and disoriented when he joined Chelsea – because he had not learned the lingo.
But after a crash course in English from his team-mates, the Spanish star (above) finally feels he is settling in and ready to repay Thomas Tuchel’s faith in him.
The 27-year-old, who is on loan from Atletico Madrid and trying to earn a permanent switch, is set to start against Plymouth in the FA Cup this weekend.
He said: “In my first match, I was a bit disorientated because I was used to doing things differently and it was a bit strange for me.
“The truth is it hasn’t been easy, but I’m very grateful to my teammates and the club for making it easier for me to adapt.
“If I don’t understand the phrases such as ‘man on’ or ‘time’ myself, or if I don’t know if I’m supposed to turn or not, after training, the Spanish players can translate for me.
“My English is improving and I’m very lucky that Thomas speaks very clear English with an accent I can understand!”
Saul, who has played only 14 times for the Blues, added: “I don’t give up and when I have the opportunity next and deliver, then I can ask a bit more of the coach.”
