Lineker: It was a disgrace
giant-killing. The Forest players managed to fend off the attacks and shoved the pitch invader away in retaliation.
He was then hauled to the ground by stewards and arrested by police.
Former Foxes striker and fan Gary Lineker (above) said: “It’s an embarrassment and a disgrace.”
Forest’s on-loan striker Keinan Davis – who appeared to be struck by the hooligan in the scuffle at the City Ground – tweeted: “What a win but I’ve got a headache.”
The ugly confrontation was the latest incident to blight English football during another weekend of crowd trouble and disorder with a series of incidents reported in the EFL.
And Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers said the increase in fan-related trouble was a symptom of a total breakdown in the rules of society.
He said: “It’s the lack of respect and people feeling entitled that they can do things. The rules of society need to change and we see that lack of respect here.
“We’ve seen it for the last couple of years.
“Supporters breaking into stadiums. What is that about?
“You come, you support your team and win, lose or draw, you have respect.
“It’s lacking in society and it spreads into other aspects of life. Obviously whatever goes on in the field it has to be a safe environment for the players.”
Leicester vowed to dish out a lifetime ban to the troublemaker.
In a statement, they said: “The club is appalled by such behaviour and offers its apologies to Nottingham Forest and its players whose safety was compromised.”
The FA are set to investigate the incident that threatened to overshadow Forest’s latest win over a Premier League side – having also KO’d Arsenal.
