WILD ABOUT HARRY

Fulham boss Silva insists there’s much more to come from flying winger Wilson

- Swansea v Fulham BY TONY BANKS

MARCO SILVA believes that there is much more to come from Harry Wilson – the unsung hero of Fulham’s promotion charge.

Wales winger Wilson scored his 10th goal of the season on Saturday as The Cottagers beat Blackburn

2-0 to establish a nine point lead at the top of the Championship with 12 matches left.

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s extraordinary exploits this season, with 34 goals from 32 league games, have overshadowed the rest of the front line. Wilson took the risk of leaving Liverpool to drop down a division with Fulham in a surprise £12million deal. But now the 24-yearold star looks set to go straight back to the Premier League.

Silva (above) said: “Maybe some people forget Harry but I don’t. He’s having a fantastic season. I never had any doubts about his quality when I asked the club to sign him in the summer.

“I said that he would be one of the main targets for us. We needed a player like him, because of his quality, and he’s doing brilliantly.

“Not just in terms of goals but in assists, and improving in other areas. Harry knows that I am demanding more from him but I am happy because he is focussed, he has a good football brain, and he is working hard.

“The good thing is that I know that he can do much more – he can improve. It is a good challenge for me to be demanding of him and to give him the ways and conditions to improve.

“He is evolving as a player because he is still young. The good thing is that he has the ambition and desire to keep on improving. Yes, Harry took a risk dropping down from the Premier League.

“But from the first day I spoke with him he showed a big desire to join us and to be part of our project.

“It was an easy decision for me, and for him. ”

Wilson returns to his homeland tonight knowing another seven wins this season should seal promotion.

But Fulham have been warned by the rejuvenated Swans that it won’t be straightforward.

Swansea beat Coventry 3-1 on Saturday having won 2-0 at West Brom the previous Monday.

Midfielder Korey Smith said: “We feel we can beat anyone on our day at home. When we win away and know we are coming back home it’s great to have the fans behind us.

“We’ve been on a bit of a win, lose, win, lose run, so it was massive to get back-to-back wins against a strong side like Coventry at the weekend.”

Fulham won 3-1 when the two sides met in London in September.
