‘GOING TO WAR WITH WHYTE IS A BIG RISK’

BY DAVID ANDERSON

TYSON FURY has been warned by Ricky Hatton that he could lose if he goes to war with Dillian Whyte.

Hatton was in Fury’s corner for his first fight with Deontay Wilder (below) and was concerned by his aggressive style in their second and third clashes.

Fury was floored in both of those contests, although he got up to stop Wilder, and the Hitman fears his pal would be risking his WBC heavyweight title if he tries the same tactics with Whyte.

“What concerns me is that Tyson, in his last few fights, although he’s been entertaining, he’s tried to be a 10ft Rocky Marciano, having a war with everyone,” he said.

“He’s been put down and if he’s been put down by Wilder, then Whyte can do the same. Tyson has to revert back to the old Tyson a little bit. Let’s break Dillian down, let’s not go to war from the opening bell, use his height, reach and movement, make him miss and choose a time to put it on Dillian. “Tyson is better in every department, he has the height, reach, ability and speed. Tyson should win.” Hatton was speaking ahead of his comeback in an exhibition bout with the legendary Marco Antonio Barrera (training with the Hitman, above) at Manchester’s AO Arena on July 2. Like Fury, Hatton, 43, has battled his own demons and hopes his ring return may lift others with mental-health issues. The former two-weight world champ said: “I was in a bad place a few years ago, so if I can get in shape to put on a show then maybe people who are suffering a bit can look at me and see what I’ve been through.” Tickets for Hatton v Barrera are available from HattonBarrera.com
