VILE MOTHER It’s

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

BODYCAM footage taken by police after five-year-old Logan Mwangi was murdered shows his mother saying: “It’s all my fault.”

But despite what seemed like a moment of honesty, the scheming mum pretended not to know what had happened to her little boy.

Officers found the lad dumped in a river with injuries similar to those from a high-speed car crash.

His mum Angharad Williamson, 31, stepdad John Cole, 40, and a 14-year-old boy were yesterday found guilty of murdering Logan.

Social workers missed at least five chances to save the lad from the abuse he suffered, it can be revealed.

His body was found with more than 55 external injuries, as well as internal wounds, including a large tear to his liver and one to his bowel.

Experts said the injuries were caused by a “brutal and sustained assault” shortly before his death.

They also said the injuries were “consistent with child abuse”.

Logan was dumped in the river in the early hours of July 31 last year by 6ft 4in Cole who had made the boy’s life a living hell with beatings and bullying.

The killing was the culmination of abuse at the hands of former National Front member Cole and Williamson.

HORRIFIC

The mum screamed “no, no, no” as the verdicts were returned while Cole glowered at Logan’s dad Ben Mwangi.

Ben later said on the court steps: “Logan was the sweetest and most beautiful boy.

“The world is a colder and darker place without his warm smile and the happy energy with which he lived his life.

“The hole that has been left in the hearts of all who knew and loved him will never be filled.”

Social services now have questions to answer. The trial revealed that warning signs were ignored before Logan died two days after suffering horrific head injuries during an attack by Cole and the teenager.

Logan was actually stepped down on the child protection register by social workers a month before the murder.

The first warning sign was in August 2020 when Logan was taken to hospital with a broken arm. Medics called police over possible safeguarding concerns as Williamson had waited a day to take him to hospital.

But devious Williamson, described during the trial as a “liar who will try any stunt to avoid her true personality being on display”, told police Logan fell down the stairs, and no further action was taken.

Then in January 2021 during a call to police Williamson said Logan had been pushed down the stairs by the 14-year-old youth, who was living with the family at the time. Logan dislocated his shoulder in the incident.

As a result he was placed on the child protection register and social services became involved.

Next, Logan was burnt on the neck by his mother with a red hot spoon in May 2021. Williamson told a social worker that Logan had “burned his neck on the bath”.

An official asked for photos of the wound and the tap and concluded they were a match.

Then in June last year concerns raised by a social worker about the 14-year-old being at the family home fell on deaf ears. The following month a social
