OLYMPIC cycling ace Laura Kenny has told of her pain after she lost two babies in the space of five months. Britain’s most successful female Olympian became pregnant after last summer’s Tokyo games but miscarried in November. In January, she needed surgery for an ectopic Kennys at Tokyo pregnancy. The five-time gold medallist said she would have been left “broken” without the support of her cyclist husband Jason and their son Albie, four.

Laura wrote on Instagram: “Since the Olympics we haven’t had much luck. I miscarried at nine weeks. I’ve never felt so lost and sad. It felt like a part of me had been torn away.”

Laura, who turns 30 tomorrow, said of her emergency dash to hospital because of the ectopic pregnancy: “Scared doesn’t even come close. I lost a fallopian tube that day.”

She added: “I’ve always known I was tough but sometimes life pushes you to unbearable limits.

“Miscarriage is a lot more common than people realise, which is why we decided to share our heartbreak to help support others.”
