Costly commute doesn’t compute

-

I find this Tory obsession with demanding every civil servant stops working from home and returns to their office desk bizarre.

Of course, most of the Cabinet ministers and right-wing editors have second homes a stone’s throw from their London workplace, so they can afford to take the moral high ground. But lots of other people don’t. And since they last worked in an office the cost of living has risen so steeply under the Tories that their commute has gone from crippling to unaffordable.

Here’s a tip for the likes of Jacob Rees-Mogg. If you care so much about your investment company’s stake in town-centre coffee shops, renationalise the railways and make it affordable for people to travel into our cities.
