GORGEOUS red foliage greets park visitors yesterday as spring takes hold.

People stopped to admire the maroon and burgundy shades of azaleas and rhododendrons in Richmond Park in South West

London. Swimming Mandarin ducks were the only disturbance to the pond’s smooth surface.

But even as flowers continue to blossom well into spring, Brits should be braced for a weekend of mixed weather. Today will have bright spells in the day, with the threat of potential showers across England and Wales. The maximum temperature will be 17C.

Tomorrow is expected to be sunnier but breezy, with predicted highs of 16C.
