NAME: GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER
(Dendrocopos major)
Showing us all the best way to use a mobile phone (note to self, stop wasting hours on social media), eightyear-old Jessica Serjeant, has caught a woodpecker having breakfast. The young snapper, who lives in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, with her family, says: “Just recently my parents gave me a phone which I love to use to take photos of scenery, nature and wildlife.
“We recently went on holiday to a cottage right next to the Wyre Forest in Worcestershire. Every morning wild birds would come to the feeder and I was lucky enough to get a lovely photo of a female great spotted woodpecker.
“My grandad is a big Daily Mirror reader and thought this photo would be great to share with your readers.”
