WATSON: CAP STOPS US COPPING ZAK

-

Warrington v Huddersfield BetFred Super League, 3pm

BY DAVE CRAVEN HUDDERSFIELD boss Ian Watson likes Zak Hardaker but won’t move for the ex-England ace.

The former Man of Steel, 30, is on the look-out for another club after Wigan yesterday ended his contract following further disciplinary issues. They say it allows Hardaker (right) to pursue career options closer to his Yorkshire home and has put a number of clubs on red alert.

But ahead of their game at struggling Warrington today, Watson says high-flying Huddersfield won’t be one of them. “We don’t have any space in our cap,” he said. “Zak is a good bloke. I know him from the 2019 (GB) tour and him spending time with Jackson Hastings.

“He’s a great player but cap issues stop clubs from bringing players in.

“It’s going to be interesting where he ends up. The one thing you can say is he’s a winner and a competitor.” Watson welcomes back Chris Hill as the GB prop faces Warrington for the first time since leaving last autumn.

England winger Jermaine McGillvary and Samoa centre Ricky Leutele also return after Giants rested a raft of players for the Easter Monday loss against St Helens.
