VIEIRA HAS HOPES OF A WIN DOUBLE

- NEIL McLEMAN

PATRICK VIEIRA has revealed he will back Emmanuel Macron in tomorrow’s French presidential election – and hopes all his compatriots will do the same.

Current president Macron has a run-off against right-winger Marine Le Pen, who opposes immigration and multiculturalism.

Crystal Palace boss Vieira (above), born in Senegal before moving with his family to France, said: “It’s a really important day for the country. And hopefully everyone will vote for Emmanuel Macron and that will be a good day for France.”

The World Cup winner and Arsenal legend watched Wednesday’s Chelsea-Gunners clash and the presidential debate simultaneously.

“I have the two screens at home,” he said. “But I’d say the debate was even more important than watching the Chelsea game.”

Palace host Leeds on Monday after three defeats followed a seven-match unbeaten run. “We’ve had up and downs and always managed to bounce back and win,” said Vieira.
