RICE PUDDING IN A SHIFT AT THE BACK

- BY

ALAN SMITH

DAVID MOYES could move Declan Rice into defence with three of West Ham’s four centre-backs injured.

The Hammers visit Chelsea before hosting Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-final. But Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop have joined Angelo Ogbonna on the sidelines.

A change of role for Rice (right) would be one solution, along with moving full-backs Ben Johnson and Aaron Cresswell inside. Moyes said: “Maybe we’ll have to move Declan because we’ve got other midfield players but don’t have defenders who can play.

“We have no defenders and maybe he’s one who’s done it before. That is one of our big dilemmas.”

Rice, 23, appeared in defence several times during Moyes’ first spell in charge of

West Ham.
