HENDO’S CALL IS NO BACK NUMBER

BY SANDOWN’S grand finale to the jumping season sees the regular appearance of the Nicky Henderson-trained

CALL ME LORD.

His previous three visits have yielded two wins and an unlucky third in last season’s Select Hurdle when he looked the likely winner until all but unseating Daryl Jacob at the last.

After a swiftly aborted chasing campaign, he showed he retains plenty of ability when passing subsequent Aintree Grade 1 novice hurdle winner Gelino

Bello to snatch third in the Lanzarote Hurdle, and two later runs in unsuitable conditions have resulted in a 4lb drop in the ratings for the bet365 Handicap Hurdle (5.15).

Spring-like conditions also bring out the best in recent Kelso scorer POTTERMAN who was awarded the bet365 Chase (3.32) in 2021 after his fast-finishing effort saw him cross the line in second place before the wayward Enrilo was disqualified.

On the Flat at Haydock, BOARDMAN has dropped to the mark from which he won at Chester last spring, so looks a strong candidate for the £25,000 prize in the Great Shevington Handicap (2.05)
