One Direction star opens up about his former bandmate
LIAM Payne has spoken out about his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik in a candid chat.
Liam, 28, said: “There are many reasons why I dislike Zayn. And there are many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side.”
He told Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast: “My parents are overly supportive to the point where it’s annoying at times, and Zayn had a different upbringing.”
Zayn has never said his parents were not supportive and proudly bought mum Trisha a house in 2013.
Liam added: “You can always look at the man for where he is and say ‘Oh yeah, whatever, that guy’s a d**k,’ but at the end of the day, once you understand what he’s been through to get to the point, and whether or not if he actually even wanted to be there...”
He also said of Louis Tomlinson, now his “best mate”: “In the band we hated each other. Like, come to blows hate each other, it was close.”
And he added: “There was one moment where there was an argument backstage and one member in particular threw me up a wall.
“I said to him: ‘If you don’t remove those hands there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.”’
He also told how he and ex Cheryl Tweedy – a judge when the group was formed on X Factor in 2010 – split after they had son Bear, now five.
Liam has previously claimed he has had the most successful solo career of his bandmates, who include Harry Styles, after they split up in 2016.
He told the podcast: “Part of the reason One Direction was made was because of Simon’s [Cowell] promise to me. That in two years I’ll make this work for you. He kind of started with my face and worked around the rest.”
