Allez France in Coronation

-

STAND by your Man for the Coronation Stakes.

French raider MANGOUSTINE (4.20) looks way overpriced in this Group 1 mile contest for fillies.

She beat Cachet to win the French version of the 1,000 Guineas at Longchamp last month from an unhelpful draw.

Considering the runner-up had previously won the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket that was a superb effort.

It’s also interesting that three of the last seven winners of this prize were French-trained and all had previously run in the Longchamp Classic.

Mangoustine’s pedigree and run-style suggests fast ground should suit her better than the easy surface she has been racing on across the Channel. The 8-1 on offer looks cracking value, so have 3pts each-way, with most bookies paying out on four places.

TIBER FLOW (3.05) is worth supporting in the day’s other Group 1 race, the Commonwealth Cup.

He rattled up a hat-trick of wins on the all-weather during the winter and he failed only by a short-head to catch El Caballo in a hot race on Newcastle’s big Good Friday card.

The switch to turf for the first time was not a problem in Newbury’s Listed Carnarvon Stakes last month. He held off fast-finishing Ehraz for a narrow success and he will be suited by the demands of Ascot.

Have 1pt each-way at 14-1, with several bookies going five places and Sky Bet stretching to six.

His trainer William Haggas also looks to have a good chance with CANDLEFORD (3.40) in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes.

He will love the likely strong pace and the form of his defeat of Coltrane on Kempton’s all-weather track in November has worked out really well.

Also, Candleford showed last season that he goes well at this track.

Have 1pt each-way at 7-1, with six places up for grabs from several
