1 in 5 will still be working in their mid-70s

ONE in five workers do not expect to retire until they’re well into their 70s, a poll has revealed.

But it also found one in seven people wanted to stop working in their 50s.

Only one in three thought early retirement was achievable though.

Of those, two-thirds were putting money aside each month in a bid to reach their goal, while a third were overpaying their mortgages, the Timeline study found.

A spokesman for Timeline said: “Retirement may seem unobtainab­le for some, but it shouldn’t be.

“Once you start to look into it, it’s more realistic than you might think.”
