Police wear Speedos to patrol beach

- BY PAUL HORTON

UNDERCOVER police officers in shorts and swimwear are heading to the beach to catch sex pests in the summer sun.

Plain clothes officers will patrol beaches in Swansea in a bid to spot “concerning or predatory behaviour” and “provide reassurance” to holidaymakers.

The undercover officers will work with colleagues in uniform who can intervene to take action.

Det Insp Carl Morris, of South Wales Police, said the likelihood of an incident was “incredibly low” and added: “This initiative is focusing on events in Swansea as well as beach and park locations.

“By using specialist officers, we are able to identify any concerning behaviour first-hand and intervene quickly.”
