MY BEAUTIFUL backyard
The sweet fragrance of petunias drifting on the balmy evening air could make you think Jan and Graeme Follett’s garden was on the Costas rather than Basingstoke in Hampshire.
“This walkway of blooms is my favourite part of the garden,” says 75-year-old Jan, who’s planted a riot of colourful flowers among the hostas in pots along the side of her house. She says: “The smell is heart-lifting as you walk past. They take a lot of water so I’ve got barrels where possible to catch rain, thanks to my husband Graeme.”
