SAM A PASTA MASTER AT JUVE

- BY MATTHEW DUNN

SAM ILING-JUNIOR’S decision to turn his back on England at 16 was made with his stomach.

Having been on the books of Chelsea since a young boy, he opted for a foreign finishing school rather than an English scholarship. And he explained why Juventus got the nod when he had already rejected moves to Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG. “I chose Italy for the food,” the 18-year-old (right) said. “But also for passion. Here you breathe football, you live for football.” His decision was rewarded on the final day last season when he was called up to the senior Juve squad for the first time.
