PERFECT POWER sated his need for speed to prove the Top Gun in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup.
A bid for the 2,000 Guineas ended in defeat after last season’s top sprint two-year-old’s stamina ran out over the Rowley Mile.
But the Richard Fahey-saddled colt was much more at home over six furlongs, beating Flaming Rib by a length and a quarter.
“When you ride a horse so special like this, that gives you such a great feeling when he accelerates,” said Christophe Soumillon, the Belgian-born superstar of French racing.
“This is the best-dressed, most elegant race meeting in the world.”
