Petrol hits new high as garages cash in
PETROL prices have hit a new high, despite wholesale costs falling.
Unleaded crept from 189.94p a litre to 190.22p and diesel has edged further towards £2 at 198.46p, up from 198p.
Motoring organisations voiced frustration as wholesale petrol has fallen 10p since peaking three weeks ago. The RAC said: “Drivers have every right to be angry”, while the AA accused forecourts of “ratcheting up misery” instead of offering hope.
It now costs £104.62 to fill a family hatch compared to £72.23 a year ago.
