Gadget cover ‘not worth it’

FAMILIES should avoid extending electrical gear warranties, say experts.

They warned the policies can cost more than paying for repairs.

Two years of extra cover for a gadget is an average £169.60 over 24 months.

But the average cost of getting a washing machine fixed is £82 while it is around £68 for a laptop.

Natalie Hitchins, of consumer watchdog Which?, said: “They just aren’t worth the extra cost.”
