Case: I asked royal charity for Carrie job
CABINET Secretary Simon Case has admitted having an “informal conversation” about a plum job for Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie.
He talked to someone at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Earthshot prize after an ex-member of the No10 team asked about “opportunities with environmental charities” for her in autumn 2020.
There is no suggestion Mrs Johnson was aware of any alleged discussions.
Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner called for a probe “to get to the bottom of this blatant cronyism”.
No10 said: “The PM did not ask for this to be raised with the charity, and he has never recommended Mrs Johnson for a government role or one as part of the Earthshot prize.”
