Look North’s Gration dies at age of 71
HARRY Gration, presenter of BBC Yorkshire’s Look North, has died aged 71.
Bradford-born Gration joined the BBC in 1978 and began at Look North in 1982, with his final appearance in 2020.
He was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting in 2013.
Gration covered nine Olympics for the BBC and won two RTS awards for his sports documentaries, White Rose In Africa in 1992 and Dickie Bird: A Rare Species in 1997.
Wife Helen, with whom he had three children, said: “He will forever be with us.”
BBC Yorkshire mourned a “much-loved colleague” and presenter Amy Garcia broke down in tears as she announced his death. BBC chief Tim Davie hailed the “outstanding broadcaster”.
