2 die in electric car HQ plunge

EMERGENCY workers rush to reach victims of an electric car that plummeted from the third floor of a factory.

But their efforts proved in vain as the two occupants died in Shanghai, China.

The car fell more than 40ft from the headquarte­rs of electric car maker NIO.

One victim was a NIO worker, the other from a partner company. The cause of the accident is not known.

The third floor has been described as a showroom, testing facility and car park.

NIO said the incident was not caused by the vehicle.

The firm expressed its deepest condolence­s.
