A VIEW TO A WILL
James Bond’s producers say Prince would make ideal 007
STEP aside Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Rege-Jean Page, Prince William has been declared the “perfect candidate” to take over as James Bond.
Tall, looks good in a dinner jacket, and able to fly a helicopter, the Duke could fit right in with Her Majesty’s – that’s his granny’s – Secret Service, say Bond film bosses.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who are brother and sister, picked up
CBEs from 40-year-old William at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
They said they were “still on the hunt” for a new 007 to take over from Daniel Craig, 54.
Ms Broccoli produced the last nine Bond films, including Casino Royale, Skyfall and most recently No Time To Die, with her brother, and said it was a “huge honour” to accept a CBE from William.
Asked who was likely to be the next Bond, Ms Broccoli, 62, said: “Unfortunately, the person we just met isn’t available. He’s occupied, unfortunately, but he would be the perfect candidate, ticks all the boxes.
“But he’s not available, sadly. So we’re still on the hunt.”
Asked whether they had a favourite Bond film, Mr Wilson, 80, said: “We like all of them. We always find something great in every film, especially the different actors who have done magnificent films.
“I think, in our hearts, we believe at least one of their films is outstanding, if not several.”
The siblings own Eon Productions, a family business which was founded by their father, Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, and Ms Broccoli said she and her brother made “a good team, brother and sister team”.
She said: “It’s very smooth when we’re working together. It’s only around the dinner table we have disagreements!”
