Cannons fired at Pirates
BRISTOL ROVERS are facing FA charges after a pitch invasion halted play in their final-day seven-goal triumph at Scunthorpe that secured their promotion to League One.
The Pirates netted five in the second half at the Memorial Stadium to make up their goal difference deficit on Northampton.
The match was halted for 16 minutes when fans came on to the pitch after Elliot Anderson’s 85th-minute seventh goal. Play eventually resumed.
Avon and Somerset Police subsequently imposed sanctions over fan misconduct – including a ban for a 16-year-old boy who admitted assaulting a Scunthorpe player.
But supporters also invaded again at the final whistle.
