No pacts, says Labour
LABOUR has vowed there will be “no pacts” with the Liberal Democrats or SNP at the next election as panicking Tories accused opposition parties of forming secret alliances.
Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy said he sees
“no possibility” of Labour making a formal pact with the
Lib Dems to win power.
He argued voters don’t want “politicians to stitch up deals in the corridors of power” and Labour had to win over former Tory voters. Health Secretary Sajid Javid has urged Opposition leaders Keir Starmer and Ed Davey to “come clean” on pacts. Lib Dem leader Mr Davey also denied any pact with Labour. “Not at all,” he told the BBC. “If you look at the seats we’ve got to win, we can win, at the next election, then we’ve got to convince a lot of Conservative voters.”
