Boro is UK’s cash capital
PEOPLE in Middlesbrough are the most likely to carry cash on them.
Some 92% always have notes, pipping Cambridge (91%) and Exeter (90%).
Those in Cardiff were least likely, at 46%, followed by Newport (50%) and Dudley, West Mids (57%).
The study by Transact Payments Limited marked the 55th anniversary of the first ATM in the UK in Enfield, North London, on June 27, 1967.
It said despite a rise in card and digital payments “consumers believe cash is here to stay”.
