YOUR MEMORIES

-

This is a photo of my mother Nora with me, the smallest girl standing, and my three siblings, Michael the baby, Josephine and Nora, taken in around 1937.

We lived in one room in a shared house and shared a cooker on the landing. Life for my mum was hard, but as children we thought it was normal.

She campaigned for free milk in schools and made a speech to Paddington council where we lived.

A local newspaper interviewed her and took this photo outside our home. We couldn’t afford a camera so this is the only picture of us all together as children. Kathleen Wells, Watford, Herts
