THE MAX FACTOR
MAX BURGIN did a ‘Rudisha’ to become British 800m champion... and then marked the feat by throwing up.
The 20-year-old Yorkshire star (below) led from trigger to tape to win in 1min 44.54sec. His front-running evoked memories of David Rudisha breaking the world record in the London Olympics in 2012.
Moments after powering home, Burgin was about to deliver his race verdict to the Manchester crowd but instead vomited. “I emptied the tank,” he joked. “That’s just me after every race.”
Burgin is the fourthfastest Briton of all time over the distance, behind only Seb Coe, Steve Cram and Peter Elliott.
