BAGNAIA BAGS BIG ASSEN WIN
ITALY’S Pecco Bagnaia stormed to a lights-to-flag win at Assen to put himself back into MotoGP title fight contention – as championship leader Fabio Quartararo scored nil points after crashing twice at the same corner.
The Ducati Lenovo rider (right) made a clean start from pole and was then never seriously challenged, winning by 0.444secs from Mooney VR46 rider Marco Bezzecchi with Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales third.
“I’m so happy after two difficult races without results,” said Bagnaia, a week after a crash in Germany looked to have ended his title chances.
“We did an incredible job, it wasn’t easy but finally we won here.”
