Happy & glorious for key ceremony
THE Queen looks in fine form as she kicks off a week of events in Scotland.
The monarch, 96, who is battling mobility issues, attended the historic Ceremony of the Keys at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
Wearing a powder blue silk wool coat and dress by Stewart Parvin, paired with a hat by Rachel TrevorMorgan, Her Majesty beamed as she was symbolically offered the keys to the Scottish capital yesterday.
She was joined by Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who are known as the Earl and Countess of Forfar while they are in Scotland.
In the ceremony, the keys to the city are symbolically offered to the Queen by Edinburgh Lord Provost Robert Aldridge.
Tradition dictates the monarch then returns them, entrusting their safekeeping to the city’s elected officials.
Today, the Queen is due to attend an armed forces ceremony in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
It is thought she will hold an audience with Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon during her time in Edinburgh. Prince Charles and Princess Anne will also take part in public appearances.
