Hill can hit new heights
NEWSBOY’S DAILY DOUBLE
LARCH HILL can make it four wins from six starts for his new yard at Stratford (6.50) this evening.
The nine-year-old gelding was quite useful when trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies and was bought by the Pogson family for Charles (below) and Adam Pogson to train in the autumn of last year.
Since then, the change of environment in Nottinghamshire seems to have given him a new lease of life with three victories.
Last time out over course and distance in May, he won by two-and-a halflengths
from Atlantic Storm, who reopposes again today.
But he was always holding his old rival and a 4lb rise for that victory looks lenient.
He again has the assistance of champion jockey Brian Hughes in the saddle and should take all the beating in the two-mile Watch On Racing TV Handicap Chase.
Brighton regular DE VEGAS KID loves the seaside track and can follow up his recent victory over course and distance last month.
He was backed in to 6-5 favourite from 5-4 for a seven-runner handicap and ended a long losing run with a fifth course success.
The Tony Carrolltrained eight-year-old is still well handicapped after just a 2lb rise and seems sure to figure again in the bet365 Handicap (2.00).
