Nadal’s on Slam alert

-

RAFA NADAL will begin his bid for the third leg of a calendar Grand Slam today with his co-coach backing him to go all the way.

Nadal, who last triumphed at Wimbledon in 2010, won the Australian Open in January for the first time since 2009.

And his 14th French Open victory opened up a lead of two Grand

Slam titles over Novak Djokovic and Roger

Federer in the

GOAT race.

Now No.2 seed Nadal, who plays Argentine world No.41 Francisco Cerundolo on Centre Court, is seeking more history. “Each Grand Slam represents three weeks when nerves are put to the test,” said Francisco Roig. “But we have not come to Wimbledon to have a good tournament, we have come to try to win.”

Nadal (above) is likely to face a tricky second-round tie with Sam Querrey and possibly play Marin Cilic in the fourth round.
