Like Major’s sleaze all over again

-

KEVIN MAGUIRE

THERE’S a touch of Kenneth Williams playing Julius Caesar about beleaguered Boris Johnson.

“Infamy...Infamy...they’ve all got it in for me!” quipped the actor in Carry on Cleo.

Yet there’s nothing funny about Johnson, a fan of Ancient Rome, in Carry on Lying.

Yesterday’s bombshell double resignation shows Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid have got it in for him – for good reason.

The Prime Minister blaming his memory and critics for scandals no longer works.

Johnson’s fibs aren’t fooling many worried Tories, never mind the masses.

SLIME

This tidal wave of slime is as bad as and arguably worse than the filth that swamped John Major in 1997.

Trying to rewrite sleaze laws to save money-grabbing MP Owen Paterson was followed by the Partygate lies and a fine as Johnson became the first serving Premier to be branded a lawbreaker.

We had more lies from Johnson about who paid for his wallpaper and serious questions were raised about who financed luxury holidays.

Taxpayer-funded flights were abused by a PM summoning planes for family air taxis.

EGOTIST

He tried to save Covid lothario Matt Hancock while Dominic Raab was never sacked for staying on his sun lounger as Afghanistan collapsed.

Bully Priti Patel was protected and now Johnson has been caught red-handed over a job for alleged sex pest Chris Pincher.

None of this will end while Johnson is in No10 or the corrupted Tories are in power.

The dishonest egotist will sacrifice his own party and Britain to survive in No10.

Britain needs a general election to vote for honesty,
