Suspect’s disguise ploy
THE suspect of America’s latest shooting massacre disguised himself as a woman before opening fire and killing seven people.
Robert Crimo was dressed in female clothing when he climbed on to the roof of a business before firing off 70 rounds from a high-powered rifle.
After the attack, which investigators said he planned for several weeks, Crimo’s disguise meant he could walk to his mum’s house to take her Honda car and go on the run.
Seven people were shot dead and 38 injured in the horror on the July 4 parade in Highland Park, Illinois. They included synagogue teacher Jacki Sundheim and grandad Nicolas Toledo, 78.
Police said Crimo, 21, legally bought two rifles weeks before, one a highpowered long range rifle.
He dropped one at the scene which helped police identify him as a suspect.
It has emerged Robert “Bobby” Crimo is a Donald Trump-supporting rapper with some musical success on Spotify. He backed Trump at the last election and attended one of his rallies dressed as Where’s Wally? in a red and whitestriped jumper.
Going under the name Awake the Rapper, Crimo has had more than two million plays on Spotify with claims he has amassed £84,000 ($100,000). According to a web page about him, Crimo is “the six foot Hip hop phenom Awake The Rapper”. For years he has also posted violent images of gun massacres – one is a drawing of himself shooting people. There is also a clip of himself throwing bullets on the floor of a classroom in what appears to be a joke about school shooters. Crimo’s uncle Paul expressed his condolences, saying: “I saw no signs of trouble. And if I did, I would have said something.” In May, Crimo’s dad Bob Crimo liked a tweet after a school shooting which supported the right to bear firearms.
