First victim warned cops but brute free to snare 2nd male
A SEX attacker was free to drug and rape a married man after police failed to arrest him when an earlier victim came forward.
Luiz Da Silva Neto, 35, faces jail after being found guilty of spiking both men with date rape drugs and assaulting them in late 2021.
It can now be revealed the first victim gave officers Neto’s name and the location of the attack two weeks before he struck again.
The Brazilian national was already under investigation by Thames Valley Police after being arrested in Oxford with a “rape kit” of drugs.
He was finally held when the second victim reported he had been drugged and assaulted. The first attack was on November 10 at an AirBnB Cotswold cottage Neto managed.
His victim, who cannot be identified, fell asleep after being given shots of Jagermeister. He was fully clothed but when he woke he was naked and being sexually assaulted by Neto, Oxford crown court heard. The victim went to the Met with Neto’s name on November 20.
The details were passed to Thames Valley Police two days later.
On December 12 victim No2 was targeted by Neto at a club in King’s Road in West London.
He was drugged and taken to the cottage in Middle Barton, Oxon, where he was raped. The married man told the court he awoke naked in a strange house with “no idea what had gone on”, before returning to London “distressed and upset”.
Neto was convicted of rape, sexual assault and administering a substance to allow sexual activity without consent. He was cleared of kidnap. The first victim said outside court: “This is the worst experience I’ve lived through. I’m heterosexual, I’m Catholic.”
Neto, of Wandsworth, South West London, will be sentenced tomorrow.
Detectives have appealed for other potential victims to come forward.
