Mirror People’s Pet Awards is back

- BY CLAIRE DONNELLY features@mirror.co.uk @DailyMirror

Prepare for some more animal magic as the Mirror People’s Pet Awards returns to take us on a roller-coaster emotional ride that guarantees laughter and tears.

It’s always a night to remember and the 2021 bash was full of heartwarming moments – including a proposal.

When Robert Stuhldreer took to the stage to accept an award on behalf of his life-changing akita dogs, Flora and Kin, he had a big surprise planned.

He dropped to one knee and popped the question to partner Mark Wilson – to the delight of the audience as well as Mark.

But while the animals and the incredible people who work with them and look after them are naturally the stars of the show, there will also be plenty of human stars going for walkies down the red carpet at the ceremony in Central London tomorrow.

They include former athlete Dame Kelly Holmes, actors Peter Egan and Patsy Kensit, and Love Island’s Gemma Owen. TV presenter Vanessa Feltz and her fiancé Ben Ofoedu will be there too, along with EastEnders star Danny Hatchard, YouTube sensation Saffron Barker, actress and singer Jodie Prenger, and broadcasters Nicky Campbell and Dame Jenni Murray.

They’ll all be excited to celebrate the achievements of some of the UK’s most amazing pets and animals, and applaud the people who work with them to achieve awe-inspiring things. We’ll be hearing about the remarkable bonds between people and their pets, getting to know some wonderful assistance animals, meeting furry social media stars and learning about the organisations working to improve the lives of those who need it most.

And you can watch the Mirror People’s Pet Awards, in partnership with Webbox, Dogs Tust and Cats Protection, live from 8pm.

Our amazing host, Loose Women star Judi Love, is also back this year – so join us for what is guaranteed to be another unforgettable celebration.
