‘Drink driver’ leaves cops in fight for lives
TWO police officers are fighting for their lives after their car was hit by a driver suspected of drinking or taking drugs.
The on-duty duo, both male, were in a marked Peugeot 308 when it was struck by a grey BMW at 1.20am yesterday.
Suffolk Police said they had been left with “lifethreatening injuries”. They were not responding to a 999 call at the time.
The BMW driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested on the B1112 in Eriswell near Lakenheath, Suffolk.
He is suspected of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
He remains in custody in Bury St Edmunds.
