THE BROKENWOOD

MYSTERIES

-

DRAMA, 8pm

More whodunit drama from the New Zealand series, now on its eighth outing. Each episode is a two-hour mystery set in a seemingly quiet country town – it’s basically Midsomer Murders with accents.

As another intriguing death shocks the community, the only people who might be able to solve them are Brokenwood’s police team – Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea) and his associates, Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland), Detective Daniel

Chalmers (Jarod Rawiri) and pathologist Gina Kadinsky (Cristina Ionda). This episode begins with the immortal line: “We’ve never moved a mummy before.”

Chaos ensues when a museum’s Egyptian mummy case turns out to contain the body of a very recently deceased woman.

The storylines tend to be a bit bonkers, and the plot near comedy farce at every moment, but this show remains one of the most popular mystery dramas.

You can find the previous seven series on UKTV Play if you find yourself hooked.
