BRITS EDGE OUT RIVALS FOR GOLD
GREAT BRITAIN’S men’s eights struck gold at the World Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic.
The British team just edged out Holland and Australia, who finished in the silver and bronze medal positions, respectively.
There was also a medal for Britain in the men’s single sculls, with Graeme Thomas (left) finishing third, behind Holland’s Melvin Twellaar and the winner Oliver Zeidler from Germany. Thomas said: “The magnitude of that race…it is the hardest race I have been involved in.” In the Paralympic races, GB came third in the men’s PR1 single sculls, with Benjamin Pritchard winning the first medal for the British team.
