MONCUR: ORIENT ARE FLYING HIGH ON SPECIAL BREW

- BY NEIL GOULDING

GEORGE MONCUR believes that something special is brewing at Leyton Orient.

The O’s went five points clear at the top of League Two with a sixth straight win. Paul Smyth and Idris El Mizouni (celebrating, second right) struck either side of the break to maintain Orient’s unbeaten start to the season.

And the Londoners (O’s forward Charlie Kelman battling with Niall Canavan, left) are in great company with Manchester City, Tottenham and Portsmouth the only other teams yet to taste defeat in the top-four flights of English football this term.

“It’s a massive win,” said Moncur after the top of the table clash. “There’s a togetherness in the dressing room which is something I’ve never experienced. I’m privileged to be here. We’ve got such quality players who can change the game in the blink of an eye. That’s what you need, one bit of quality to open the game up.” Orient have kept six clean sheets in their opening 10 league games. And Moncur added: “I don’t think I’ve ever played in a team which has kept so many clean sheets. Hopefully, it continues the same way throughout the year.” Barrow saw their perfect home start ended and their bad day at the office was compounded by Josh Kay’s late sending off.

But defender Tyrell Warren is adamant that the Bluebirds, who were tipped to go down at the start of the season, will bounce back.

He said: “Maybe on the outside, people will think we’ll struggle, and maybe the Barrow fans, too.

“But we’ve got a good group of players here and it’s still going well for us.”
