Bees stung by pollution
AIR pollution is creating havoc for bees trying to pollinate flowers and crops, according to a study.
Ozone gases are disrupting when flowers bloom and their colours, making it hard for butterflies and bees to find them.
The study into ozone – which is beneficial in the stratosphere – was done by Nanjing University, near Shanghai in China.
Author Professor Evgenios Agathokleous said: “It can also react with pollen, decreasing its quality.”
