I get a kick out of being age 110
Ex-nurse Louise reveals her secret to long life
ONE of Britain’s oldest women has hit 110 and revealed the key to her long life is kickboxing and scoffing chicken.
Great-great-grandmother Merah “Louise” Smith only gave up her favourite sport at 103, after doctors suggested that she take it easier.
And the Jamaican-born former nurse, who was born in 1912 – the same year the Titanic sank – plans to stick with her diet and her faith.
She celebrated her birthday on Wednesday with friends, family and the local mayor. When asked what the key to her longevity is, Louise replied: “Eating good food like chicken, vegetables and fruit.
“No stress, but most of all reading the Bible. I didn’t expect to live so long but any time the Lord wants to take me, He can take me.”
Louise, from Croydon, South London, is three years younger than Britain’s oldest person, Ethel May Caterham, of Surrey.
She said her favourite era was the 1930s when she met her husband James, who sadly died in the 1950s.
And this year, she received her first birthday card from King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.
HAPPY 110th birthday to great-greatgrandmother Louise Smith.
The key to her long life is kickboxing and eating chicken. No wonder she’s fighting fit.
