Wagatha: Now Vardy blames Coleen lawyer for court loss

REBEKAH Vardy has accused Coleen Rooney’s lawyers of resorting to “desperate” tactics to win the Wagatha Christie trial.
In a new documentary, Rebekah’s friends say they think she was treated “appallingly” by the defence lawyers - in the libel trial she brought to the High Court and lost.
In Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial, Rebekah lashes out: “In David Sherborne’s own words, there was no smoking gun. So he essentially had to muddy the water to create this inferential case against me, and that was really difficult to accept.”
The first day of the trial included details of her account of sleeping with singer Peter Andre, who she claimed had manhood that resembled a “chipolata”.
She also said spending the night with him was not worth her train fare, in a 2004 interview she says she “regrets”.
Rebekah, 40, tells the film: “I knew what David Sherborne was trying to do. He was trying to paint this picture that was essentially create this narrative bias, to try to make me look like that sort of person.
“Bringing up something someone has done 20 years ago is desperate.”
Rebekah’s solicitor Charlotte Harris adds in the documentary: “The Peter Andre part of it seemed like ancient history and really completely irrelevant. Nothing more than mud-slinging. What point was it actually making?”
Her close friend and fellow WAG Nicola McLean adds in the Discovery film that lawyers brought up “every indiscretion she had”, adding: “Her name got dragged through the mud. “Coleen’s lawyers were ferocious. They went out to take her down and they did. “They went after Becky to character assassinate her, [they] aggressively interrogated, she was mocked, and she still stood there day after day.”
Rebekah – married to Leicester City star Jamie Vardy – attempted to sue Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen, 36, after Coleen launched a sting operation to find out who was leaking information about her from a private Instagram account. Coleen famously pointed the finger, by declaring: “It’s ..... Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
In May this year, the WAGs went to court with a judge deeming Coleen to be an “honest and reliable witness”.
Coleen tried to settle the case out of court several times, but Rebekah refused.
It was ruled she “knew of, condoned and was actively engaged” in the leaking of stories about Coleen. The judge added she had been “manifestly inconsistent” with evidence on “many occasions”.
