Hero’s World Cup triumph medal in sale
ENGLAND football hero Alan Ball’s 1966 World Cup winner’s medal is set to fetch £120,000 at auction.
The red No7 shirt he wore in England’s 4-2 win over West Germany is also for sale, valued at £50,000.
And the blue England cap he was presented with for playing in the tournament is also in the auction for an estimated £25,000.
Ball died in 2007, aged 61. His mementoes from the 1966 World Cup final had been sold in 2005 to Edwin Davies, ex-owner of Bolton Wanderers FC.
He died in 2018, and the three items are now to be sold at Tennants Auctioneers of Leyburn, North Yorks, on December 9.
Kegan Harrison, of Tennants, said: “We are honoured to be handling the sale of these items.”
